BLOCK RISK
Research and post–urban-conflagration damage assessments show that a single home ignition can spread fire across an entire community when winds are strong and homes are closely spaced.
In Serrano, most homes are within 10 feet of the adjacent home. While some larger-lot production homes and custom homes have greater separation, structure-to-structure fire spread remains a significant risk under wind-driven wildfire conditions. Studies have shown that separation has to be between 30 and 40 feet to avoid destroyed homes.
